Pupil leadership plays an important role in school life and our School Council is a powerful democratic forum for pupil voice.
School Council Representatives are elected from each form, tasked with the role of articulating the views of their peers in regular meetings. Leading the council are Year 6 girls. Together, they discuss suggestions brought forward and decide on actions to be taken and host termly events for the whole school.
Pupils develop a public voice and powerful language through several leadership opportunities, including Rights Reps (inclusion), Sports Captains, Charity Ambassadors and Library Ambassadors.
The friendship bench and climbing frame in the playground, Meat Free Mondays in the dining hall, and paper-waste and Walk to School awareness campaigns have all been the result of council discussions over the years and are now important features of our school. School Council has organised initiatives such as a mock election and a climate change demonstration.
